Sofreh Restaurant
Photographed before service, the dining room is almost empty of objects: a brick vault held clear of the concrete shell by a hand span, and a single line of light entering at the crown. The walnut banquettes are the only warmth in the room until the tables are laid.

Note
We asked to be photographed empty and the piece ran it that way, which we were grateful for. What it left out is the noise: the vault was built to make a loud room quiet, and that is the thing the owners actually bought. A room reads differently at forty covers.
