Ekbatan Workshop Building

The portal frame is left unpainted inside, repaired where it had corroded and otherwise untouched, so the building still announces what it used to be. New insulated cladding and a clerestory along the ridge do the environmental work. Demolition was costed at the outset and rejected.

Note

This is the only piece written about the building and it got the argument right: keeping the shed was the cheaper option, not the sentimental one. We sent the cost comparison and they printed it. Industrial work is rarely published, so we take what we can.
