Sofreh Restaurant Identity

The room came first: a brick vault lit only at its crown. The owners asked for a logo and we argued that the vault was already the mark. Its section, drawn at full size and reduced, gives a single curve that works at the width of a sign and at the width of a plate rim. No other shape was drawn for the restaurant.

Menus are letterpressed on heavy card so the curve is pressed into the page rather than printed onto it. The street sign is an aged brass plate with the section cut clean through, backlit at night by the same warm level as the dining room. Plates and bowls carry the curve as a raised rim, thrown by a potter in Lalejin to a drawing at 1:1.
