Seven Houses
Exhibition design for seven residential models, lit from above only.

Seven residential projects had to be shown in a hall with a low ceiling and bad ambient light. Photographs would have flattened them and drawings would not have been read at that scale. We showed models only, at 1:50, in a single plaster with no colour and no figures, so that what is compared between the seven is section and plan and nothing else.
The hall lighting was switched off and each model lit from directly above by one narrow beam, which put the shadows where the building would put them at midday. Plinths are raw plywood at table height, unfinished, built in four days. Captions are two lines of text on linen at the back of each plinth, so a visitor reads the model first.
